Petit ELJ Kew is a purpose-built early learning Centre that provides a holistic approach to education and cares for children between 6 weeks and 6 years.
Our spacious studios are designed to create environments that are welcoming and engaging for your child and allow them to feel as though they are at home away from home.
We believe that after families and educators, the environment is the children’s third teacher. We collaborate and consult with our incredible team, families and early childhood professionals to develop a philosophy that guides our practice here at Petit ELJ Kew. We are a centre that inspires, nurtures and guides our children to a lifelong love of learning.
Phool Bharti GautamCentre Director
My name is Phool Bharti Gautam, but I prefer to be called ‘’Bharti’ and I am the Centre Director at Petit ELJ Kew. I have been in childcare for nearly 10 years and started my career in New Zealand. By profession I am a registered Primary and Early Childhood Teacher.
I have always been interested in supporting the care needs of children and giving them the best start through education. I am captivated by children’s learning and development. The environment which children are exposed to, holds an important key to setting them up for future learning. Children are also teachers and l have learnt a lot from them. I’ve had many different roles in the sector over the years. I have enjoyed every one of them and have gained in-depth knowledge and experience. Children inspire me and in return I ensure they feel valued and respected for their individuality. They have a place to feel safe and secure while creating a sense of adventure and exploration, where exciting learning environments can evolve from the children’s interests. My goal is to ensure children become lifelong learners, resilient and are respected for who they are and for the extraordinary knowledge they bring to the world.
I love nothing more than visiting the studios and engaging with the children. I cherish the conversations we share and the learning that comes from it. I am very excited to see children taking their next steps in their learning journey. I like to empower children to be the best they can be by giving them confidence, respect, enjoyment and an opportunity for adventure. I believe children learn and explore in their own ways through their own interests and experiences. I support their strengths and abilities through facilitating their learning and development. I enable discussions and scaffolding of their ideas in play while engaging them in learning topics which interest them the most.
The Petit ELJ Kew Team and I are looking forward to meeting and building relationships with you and your children.

There is a strong focus on children’s social and emotional development to ensure that each child has the skills to become active and confident learners as they move onto school.
Here at Petit ELJ Kew, we run a play-based program that stems from the children’s interests, strengths and needs.
We have a keen interest in the importance of families in the children’s kindergarten experience, and we work to nurture the link between home and kindergarten with all the families we meet. We are excited to share with you the learning of your child, and we look forward to the shared experiences of play and fun that we have in each session.
Petit ELJ Kew Kindergarten Teacher Profile
Wing WuEarly Childhood Teacher
My name is Wing and I am so excited to be a part of the team at Petit ELJ Kew. I graduated from Monash University in 2019 with a Master of Teaching degree in Early Years Education. I have been a Kindergarten teacher ever since and have loved being inspired by the big hearts, big ideas and big passions of children everyday.
“The secret in education lies in respecting the student” – Ralph Waldo Emerson. Respect, is the root of my teaching practices, programs and decision making. As a teacher, I position myself as a role model and a learning buddy. I emphasise values such as kindness and empathy; I listen with my heart and value children’s ideas; I take children’s perspectives in play and challenge them to make the seemingly impossible tasks possible; I play, laugh, sing, dance, be silly and have fun with children. I believe these attributes build and maintain a trusting and attuned relationship with each child and their family, which is the key for children to thrive.
My teaching style is also influenced by my background in music and dance. I love to provide active and hands-on experiences as they are crucial for children’s physical wellbeing, as well as the development of resilience. They are also very effective in boosting children’s engagement and interests in learning something new, including literacy and numeracy.
I cannot wait to be a part of your child’s learning journey, to work in collaboration with you, and to be inspired by these amazing little souls.

Ingrid Quanchi, Kew VIC
All of the staff go out of their way to make my daughter and my husband and I feel like part of the Petit family and ensure that they are caring for our daughter in the same way we would at home. I always feel confident that she is in good hands each day. Most importantly Emily loves attending Petit and learns so much from her peers and educators.
Tanya Gilliver, Kew VIC
The centre is very professionally run, they give regular updates, and have good systems and processes. The staff are LOVELY, kind and caring and they know my child very well. Most of all, he’s happy at drop off and doesn’t want to leave at the end of the day.

Grandparents Day is an opportunity to show our love and appreciation for all the things our grandparents do for their grandchildren and families. It’s a special day for connecting with family and a reminder of the role senior citizens can play in raising children. In Australia, most states observe Grandparents Day on the last Sunday […]
A shy baby can be tricky to understand. You may not know what shyness is or how to help a child overcome shyness. However, shyness is a typical trait in children 5 years and under. It is a natural reaction. It allows children to be cautious and feel safe. Young children may be shy when meeting […]
What does a float Educator do? There are many different ideas of what a float position in Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) does. The term “float” can apply to any role, casual or permanent. An Assistant Educator may sometimes be assigned the role of a float, in that they may work with more than […]

It helps them express their feelings and emotions, learn to work in groups and develop their self-confidence and imagination. Interacting with music and movement in early childhood education is part of a child’s everyday life in Australia. They add colour and fullness to the […]
