Petit ELJ Kew is a purpose-built early learning Centre that provides a holistic approach to education and cares for children between 6 weeks and 6 years.
Our spacious studios are designed to create environments that are welcoming and engaging for your child and allow them to feel as though they are at home away from home.
We believe that after families and educators, the environment is the children’s third teacher. We collaborate and consult with our incredible team, families and early childhood professionals to develop a philosophy that guides our practice here at Petit ELJ Kew. We are a centre that inspires, nurtures and guides our children to a lifelong love of learning.
Stephanie SimopoulosCentre Director
Hi, I’m Stephanie Simopoulos, Centre Director at Petit ELJ Kew.
I’ve been working in the early childhood education and care industry for 10 years, mainly in management. I have continued to study everything from business to teaching, to management to ensure that my knowledge and ideas are current and inspiring.
The most important aspect within my career has been maintaining the relationships I’ve made with families, children, educators and community that I’ve worked within.
I aim to ensure that not only children feel a sense of belonging, but also their family members and the educators that teach and care for them. My hope for Petit ELJ Kew is to be an integral part of the community that connects families and community professionals into a safe place where they can be and leave their children. Where their children are loved, cared for, taught, inspired and most of all, valued as individuals.
Here at Petit ELJ Kew, we are building our team into a family, and we would love to have you join us.

Kew Kindergarten Program.
Enrol your child in a Kindergarten Program today to encourage a smooth transition and school readiness!
There is a strong focus on children’s social and emotional development to ensure that each child has the skills to become active and confident learners as they move onto school.
Here at Petit ELJ Kew, we run a play-based program that stems from the children’s interests, strengths and needs.
We have a keen interest in the importance of families in the children’s kindergarten experience, and we work to nurture the link between home and kindergarten with all the families we meet. We are excited to share with you the learning of your child, and we look forward to the shared experiences of play and fun that we have in each session.
Benefits of attending a Petit ELJ Kindergarten Program
Our qualified early childhood teachers guide children through a learning journey that provides the foundation for a successful transition to school and that aligns with the EYLF that ‘all children experience learning that is engaging and builds success for life’.
Through participation in our evidence-based pedagogy program which include elements of play-based, inquiry-based and project-based learning, children are encouraged to investigate and explore materials and ideas through play and purposeful interactions.
In attending a Petit ELJ Kindergarten, your child will:
- Build a sense of security, trust and a confident self-identity.
- Independence and perseverance are encouraged and nurtured.
- Learn to show respect for diversity and their environment.
- Build a sense of autonomy and explore ways to be healthy and safe.
- Develop confidence and involvement in their learning journey.
- Have the opportunity to use technology for learning and communication.
- Explore and expand their language and engage in literacy and numeracy in personally meaningful ways.
All of which we believe will support your child in a successful transition to school and set them up for future learning success.

All of the staff go out of their way to make my daughter and my husband and I feel like part of the Petit family and ensure that they are caring for our daughter in the same way we would at home. I always feel confident that she is in good hands each day. Most importantly Emily loves attending Petit and learns so much from her peers and educators.
Tanya Gilliver, Kew VIC
The centre is very professionally run, they give regular updates, and have good systems and processes. The staff are LOVELY, kind and caring and they know my child very well. Most of all, he’s happy at drop off and doesn’t want to leave at the end of the day.

When we talk about resilience training in child care, the focus is often on strengthening children’s wellbeing. The Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) frequently raises wellbeing as it is pivotal to experiencing belonging, being and becoming. Being resilient improves wellbeing. Beyond Blue describes resilience as “Doing well during or after an adverse event, or a […]
Learning through play occurs naturally through everyday experiences. Children learn by exploring, using their imagination and by making decisions often through trial and error. Play changes as children grow, and many different forms of play support children’s agency. Families can promote play by encouraging and participating in children’s play. Playing together is one of the […]
Chase the gloom away with these 20 things to do on rainy days. Our rainy day activities work best when we build them around our children’s interests and invite them to play. Set up multiple play spaces and let them choose which ones they want to play. Below, we’ve gathered indoor and outdoor rainy day […]
Improving child development is best achieved in early education and care environments when there are strong family partnerships. A 2010 report for the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs, examined a large body of research that shows families have […]
