Petit ELJ Pimpama offers a holistic, child-led learning environment that encourages creativity and exploration. Our studio settings are enhanced with natural décor and resources to provide opportunities for children to play and learn. We offer incursions, including local sports programs that promote physical literacy.
We are a team of qualified educators who are passionate about children’s learning and development. We believe each child learns in their unique way and offer them the opportunity to be in control of their own learning and sense of wonder. We strive to build strong relationships with not only the children but also our families and the local community.
Melissa FosterCentre Director
Hello, my name is Melissa Foster, and I am the Centre Director for Petit ELJ Pimpama.
I have been working in the Early Education Industry for over 20 years; three of which have seen me in a directors role. During this time, I have had the opportunity to care and educate children across many different care settings. I hold my Diploma of Children’s Services along with my Advanced Diploma of Community Sector Management.
At the heart of ‘why I do what I do’ is my desire to make a difference not only in children’s and families lives but also in that of our passionate and dedicated educators. Our role as educators is so important as we guide and support children to become confident, independent and capable learners.
The highlight of my day is seeing the children’s smiling faces as they walk through the door along with watching and sharing in their excitement as they make discoveries and learn new skills. I feel very fortunate to have a career I love. I enjoy sharing my knowledge and passion with educators as well as be in a position where I can mentor and support them in their professional development.
I have always lived by the quote from Mark Twain ‘Find a job that you enjoy doing, and you will never have to work a day in your life.”
I am excited to be part of the Petit ELJ family and look forward to getting to know you.

There is a strong focus on children’s social and emotional development to ensure that each child has the skills to become active and confident learners as they move onto school.
Here at Petit ELJ Pimpama, we run a play-based program that stems from the children’s interests, strengths and needs.
We have a keen interest in the importance of families in the children’s kindergarten experience, and we work to nurture the link between home and kindergarten with all the families we meet. We are excited to share with you the learning of your child, and we look forward to the shared experiences of play and fun that we have in each session.
Petit ELJ Pimpama Kindergarten Teacher Profile
Sharon BrownEarly Childhood Teacher
I have been working within the childcare industry for the last 6 years, starting after raising my five children. I am currently working towards my Bachelor of Early Childhood and Primary through the University of New England and have been working as an Early Childhood Teacher for the past two years.
I love watching as children develop an understanding of a new concept and discover all that they can from the topic. Recently we were talking about turtles and watching as the children understood that not all the turtles would make it to the ocean was a lovely teaching moment. The children have shown that they can understand compassion and how nature is sometimes not as kind as we would like. This topic is part of our literacy experience, and the children have loved extending this and discovering new things about the ocean and the animals that live there. This topic has flowed onto understanding the environment and how we can take care of the environment around them. This learning and extension turned a lovely picture book by Allision Lester into a four-week lesson plan that continues to grow and change directions. Staying with this topic for as long as we did help the children to build confidence in their learning and in asking questions.
The program briefly covers all units that are listed in the foundation year of school. Using a little of each subject each week builds on the children’s self-belief as they move into Prep. However, the Kindergarten program is designed with the children at the centre. We also follow items that the children show an interest in, with a flexible routine we can change the lesson to include our current field of interest. We include lots of development activities that involve fine motor skills, creativity with a free art table to create items of your choosing at any time. Children who are school-ready in our studio, love to learn, explore the world around them without fear and develop the confidence to engage in discussions with their peers. They are also able to recognise the letters that make their name and understand the numbers that they see around them.
Our goal for the children is for them to feel like they belong and have the confidence to learn. We would also like them to understand that they can achieve anything and aim for the stars.

As a mum of 6, I have been through my fair share of childcare centers. Petit ELJ Pimpama has been hands down the BEST centre I have ever been with. Amazing staff & facilities. A very warm & welcoming environment. I always felt happy & comfortable leaving my little guy in their hands & he was always happy too. I personally liked the minimal staff changes throughout the year, which I feel gives the kids a sense of stability. The staff were always very good at engaging the parents at drop off. I highly recommend the centre ~ and it will surely be missed by us. Thank you to the staff for everything over the years. All the best.

I am so excited to write this review. My son started at Petit Early Learning Journey Pimpama 1 month after they opened in September 2017. He was just over 2 ½ years old at the time. Since then he has progressed through Haven, Darling Drive and is now in Kindergarten in Treasure Cove. Through out that time he as thrived. Initially he attended 2 days a week and is now attending 4 days. He has learnt how to be sociable and made many friends and with the teaching curriculum he had developed skills which will enable him to move forward and succeed into big school in 2020.

Camping with toddlers might seem like an adventure that could quickly become a disaster. What could go wrong with bringing a young child out into the wilderness? You might lose it, cry and pull your hair out but you’ll also have some fantastic experiences with our tips. Young children love to explore nature. Whether they’re a baby, […]
New baby in residence or on the way? Congratulations! It’s difficult to imagine how newborns – those tiny bundles of joy with their natural ability to mesmerise adults—can turn families with older children upside down with sibling jealousy. Babies are beautiful additions to any family. Whether they’re your second, third or seventh child, they have […]

The Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) frequently raises wellbeing as it is pivotal to experiencing belonging, being and becoming. Being resilient improves wellbeing.
