Jessie BakerCentre Director
Hi, I’m Jessie Baker, Centre Director of Petit ELJ Springfield Central.
I hold a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care and have been in the Early Childhood Education and Care sector for more than 17 years and find my role very rewarding.
My philosophy is based around providing a friendly, safe and supportive environment that provokes curiosity. I understand that all children will learn in different ways and at their own pace and these different learning styles need to be facilitated through a play-based learning approach.
I aim to provide a nurturing environment that promotes each child’s learning and development. My goal here at Petit ELJ Springfield Central is to create a place filled with laughter, learning and memories; not only for the children in our care but their families and our amazing educators too.
The high-quality care your child deserves.
The perfect environment for your child to discover their creativity, confidence and love of learning.
Your child will be engaged in an honest, welcoming and friendly environment that is suited to their age and developmental needs. Our staff-to-child ratios ensure your child is getting the best care and attention they need and deserve.

Enrol your child in a Kindergarten Program today to encourage a smooth transition and school readiness!
There is a strong focus on children’s social and emotional development to ensure that each child has the skills to become active and confident learners as they move onto school.
Here at Petit ELJ Springfield we pride ourselves on our Kindergarten program. We have a strong emphasis on the journey to Prep-readiness and follow a play and inquiry-based curriculum which allows children to learn at their own pace in a variety of different ways. Our bachelor trained teachers develop their learning in line with the Queensland Kindergarten Guidelines and create real-life learning situations that explore problem-solving, investigating and experimentation, Prep-readiness skills and interest-based projects.
Petit ELJ Springfield Central Kindergarten Teacher Profiles
Shannon EdenEarly Childhood Teacher
As an Early Childhood Teacher my goals for the children is to guide them on their journey to Prep-readiness, including emotionally and socially. I aim to guide their independence and develop a life long love of learning.
I believe that the Kindergarten program here at Petit ELJ is inspired by a mixture of both teacher-initiated learning and child-led experiences, as well as incorporating parent input. Parent input is gathered throughout the term through communication books, storypark and parent-teacher conversations and meetings. We also gain their input in terms of their children’s goals for the year while in our studio. Our Children are always included in our program in terms of both planning and reflection. This guides our practice and ensures the program we are providing is catered to each child within the room.
Our Prep-readiness program is a balance between the learning of the academics of becoming a life long learner and building the confidence, personal identity, social skills, emotional regulation, individual values and play skills.
Shaiane PerenaraEarly Childhood Teacher
I am the Kindergarten Teacher in the Blossom Hill Studio. My passion is to teach and learn alongside children. I believe children are the leaders of their own play and I am here to further extend their world views through experiences. My personal philosophy involves partnerships with parents and putting their voices first. I believe family is the main foundation in a child’s life and throughout their Kindergarten journey. I encourage families to be a part of their child’s learning and environment as much as I can, making sure their voice is heard.
I believe children learn through exploration. Being creative and curious ignites children’s interests and ideas. As their teacher it is my job to guide them and keep that flame ignited throughout their learning journey. I respect that each child is different and unique, therefore I ensure to maintain a safe and secure environment. This allows children to feel empowered to explore, learn and grow, helping them set the foundation as a confident and involved learner.
My goal as a teacher is to continue to learn and grow alongside my colleagues, children and families, sharing my knowledge and passion along the way.
Caitlin BroomEarly Childhood Teacher
Hi, I am Caitlin Broom and I am one of the Kindergarten Teachers at Petit Early Learning Journey, Springfield Central in the Treasure Cove room. My goal as an Early Childhood Teacher is to help guide children in developing the skills necessary to grow as successful learners who are capable of guiding and influencing their own learning as well as understanding and appreciating the world around them. I believe that children are very capable and hope to help them instil this same confidence in themselves. In Treasure Cove we aim to build children’s independence and ensure they can build a love of learning that will help guide them throughout the rest of their lives.
Our Kindergarten Program is a harmonious mix of teacher-initiated learning, child-led and interest-based experiences, and the inclusion of family input. We value meaningful conversations with families and children to set goals and plan for learning. We have a variety of options to gather input throughout the year such as through communication books, Storypark, parent-teacher conversations and meetings. We also regularly check in with families regarding children’s goals for the year within our studio. We seek to include the children’s voices and input in our planning and reflecting process, including the preparation of our environments to ensure they have purpose for children’s play. All these elements guide our practice and ensure that the program we provide caters for and supports each child within our studio.
The support we offer to achieve a successful transition to school supports children’s confidence, independence, personal identity, social skills, emotional regulation, communication and playing skills. Our Treasure Cove team, as well as our Petit Team overall, is truly incredible and I am very lucky to have the opportunity to guide our children’s learning alongside them.
