Children also get to relax in our indoor garden café and enjoy picnics and each other’s company. Surrounded by a white picket fence and fitted out with picnic tables and bean bags, our garden café has views into our kitchen for children to watch with wonder their delicious meals prepared.
Our Centre is led by a strong management team who empower and guide a team of fully qualified educators and teachers, allowing for a rich and high-quality educational program. We also foster a lifetime love of learning which is reflected in our six core beliefs and evident in the practises we embrace. Our Kindergarten Program equips children with a smooth transition to their school years.
Belinda BalaamCentre Director
Hi, I’m Belinda Balaam, Centre Director at Forest Hill.
I have been in the early childhood education and care sector for 20 years and hold a Diploma of Children’s Services from Swinburne University.
I have always had a passion for working with young children. One of my biggest motivations for working with young children is knowing I can make a positive difference to a child’s life during the early stages.
Getting to know each child and seeing them reach each milestone is the most rewarding aspect.
It’s incredible seeing the children become independent beings forming friendships, learning new skills and experiencing beautiful moments together.
I encourage family participation and welcome engagement and collaboration in the program with our open-door policy. We have experienced many magical moments within our Centre, and I can’t wait to share this journey with you and your family.
The high-quality care your child deserves!

Your child will be engaged in an honest, welcoming and friendly environment that is suited to their age and developmental needs. Our staff-to-child ratios ensure your child is getting the best care and attention they need and deserve.
Forest Hill Kindergarten Program
Enrol your child in a Kindergarten Program today to encourage school readiness!
There is a strong focus on children’s social and emotional development to ensure that each child has the skills to become active and confident learners as they move onto school.
Here at Petit ELJ Forest Hill, we run a play-based program that stems from the children’s interests, strengths and needs.
We have a keen interest in the importance of families in the children’s kinder experience, and we work to nurture the link between home and kinder with all the families we meet. We are excited to share with you the learning of your child, and we look forward to the shared experiences of play and fun that we have in each session.

My daughter and son have been going to Petit for a little while now.
My daughter is a very shy person and can be quite anxious around new faces. The staff at Petit are very welcoming and have a motherly touch while caring for my children and others throughout the day.
They offer so many extra curricular activities for children of all ages to participate in and accommodate for a range of children’s needs and interests.
It is always hard to say goodbye to your babies at drop off but always reassuring knowing that they will be shown love throughout the day and are always a phonecall away if I need reassurance that my babies are okay.
Talia Lee, Forest Hill VIC
This is my second time writing a review for Petit at Forest Hill. I have searched for different places. They can all offer good facilities, cleanness, modern designs, well thought system but if I had to choose, BEST EDUCATORS & PROGRAM, no one can beat Petit Forest Hill. It is amazing how much your child learn content knowledge from them and also great manners and building up characters. It is not about how parents feel, it is about your children’s learning and how much they put in effort for each student here. It is amazing and they deserve much more recognition for that. Love Petit!
Glenn Simmons, Forest Hill VIC
The resources available at Petit are fantastic, so much for the children to choose from and a great outdoor area.
My daughter always comes home with her own works of art to hang on the wall and shares her days adventures with us, she loves the centre pets – Tiny Tim the Turtle, the chickens and the Bunny.
Having 2 children at the centre was made a lot easier knowing that our eldest daughter is still able to see her younger brother during the day as they play outside together.

When we talk about resilience training in child care, the focus is often on strengthening children’s wellbeing. The Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) frequently raises wellbeing as it is pivotal to experiencing belonging, being and becoming. Being resilient improves wellbeing. Beyond Blue describes resilience as “Doing well during or after an adverse event, or a […]
Learning through play occurs naturally through everyday experiences. Children learn by exploring, using their imagination and by making decisions often through trial and error. Play changes as children grow, and many different forms of play support children’s agency. Families can promote play by encouraging and participating in children’s play. Playing together is one of the […]
Chase the gloom away with these 20 things to do on rainy days. Our rainy day activities work best when we build them around our children’s interests and invite them to play. Set up multiple play spaces and let them choose which ones they want to play. Below, we’ve gathered indoor and outdoor rainy day […]
Improving child development is best achieved in early education and care environments when there are strong family partnerships. Documented research and experience widely supports the positive effect on a child’s development. A 2010 report for the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs, examined a large body of research that shows families have […]
