Petit ELJ Hamilton is committed to providing a unique early childhood education and care experience for our families. Our mission is to create memories for each child that they will re-visit for years to come, and we do this by creating magical moments throughout our learning program. We are a family and a home away from home for your children, so they feel safe and supported to explore their world and their interests.
At Hamilton, we strive for continuous growth and to create a positive environment, one based on trust and respect that enhances our connectedness as a community and family. We look at each child as a whole being, as a child who is emotionally and socially secure to become confident, competent learners which leads to endless possibilities for any child.
Kate YoungCentre Director
Hi, I’m Kate Young, the Centre Director at Petit ELJ Hamilton. I have been in the early childhood education sector for 17 years and am a Diploma qualified educator both here in Australia and the UK. I recently completed an Advanced Diploma through the Australian Institute of Childcare.
I was motivated to work in the early childhood sector after having my children made me realise that the care I wanted to be provided for them would be an extension of the care I provided as their mother. I wanted a home away from home environment for my children while they were in care and felt inspired to give this experience for all children.
Being part of a child’s journey as they navigate through their early years is the most rewarding aspect of my role. Understanding the importance of the early years development and the impact it can have on a child. To know that I have positively helped shape the person they will become really excites me.
My goal for the children at Petit ELJ Hamilton is to create an environment where all children and families feel valued, supported, respected and loved. To embed real and authentic life values into our everyday practices and program. I encourage children and families to collaborate and engage in our program by creating respectful relationships to ensure the families know their input is valued and needed to ensure a successful and engaging program. Current concepts and teaching strategies that we are exploring are based on one of my favourite theorists Jean Piaget. “Children learn by doing, rather than being told”. Many magic moments happen throughout the week, which makes me so grateful to have the job that I do.

We have a keen interest in the importance of families in the children’s kindergarten experience, and we work to nurture the link between home and kindergarten with all the families we meet. Petit ELJ Hamilton Kindergarten Teacher Profile
Chrissy ManEarly Childhood Teacher
I am originally from Macau and have spent the past 11 years living in Australia and previous to that, four years in America. I have a Bachelor Degree in Education (Early Childhood). I have been working in different early learning settings teaching children from the age of three to five since I graduated in 2012.
My role in a child’s early years of their education is to lead, inspire, listen, assist and support them and help them build a solid foundation for later life. I value each child’s uniqueness and strengths. I believe classrooms with children from different skills and backgrounds is the reflection of today’s multicultural society in Australia.
The environment is the third teacher for children. An authentic learning environment encourages children to be active learners to explore, investigate and learn. I believe children’s voices need to be heard to provide them with meaningful learning experiences.
Our Kindergarten program provides children with opportunities to develop different skills to maximise their potential. Literacy, numeracy, STEM, cultural and wellbeing learning are embedded in our daily learning program. Children’s ideas, experiences, interests are valued and being listened to by teachers and educators throughout the day. This information is the building tool to create learning experiences that spark and extend their learning.

The staff at Petit Hamilton are lovely. The centre takes great measures to keep the kids safe and stimulated. The food provided is great and our sons dietary needs are always met. We have only noticed positive changes in our child since attending daycare at this centre. I love seeing our son engage and interact in a safe and friendly environment and know he is in great hands! I never have to worry for even a second – which makes for a great break for mummy! Thank you Petit Hamilton! 😊

I can’t rave enough about Petit Hamilton!
From the moment we walked through their doors, we instantly felt like part of the family and within a couple of days everyone knew our sons name. Thank you to all the teachers who have helped our son grow and develop, we feel extremely blessed to be part of the ever inspiring and exciting Petit Hamilton family.

My daughter has attended a couple of daycares before coming to Petit, and I can honestly say that the quality of care, the sense of community at the centre is like no other. I could not be happier with Petit, my little girl used to cry at drop offs at other centres and within 2 days of being at Petit she wouldn’t even say bye to me she was so excited to run off give her educators a hug and play with her friends, the only tears she would shed is when I pick her up and she doesn’t want to leave! Could not recommend Petit more highly to anyone looking for exceptional care with a variety of stimulating activities planned daily for your child.

When we talk about resilience training in child care, the focus is often on strengthening children’s wellbeing. The Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) frequently raises wellbeing as it is pivotal to experiencing belonging, being and becoming. Being resilient improves wellbeing. Beyond Blue describes resilience as “Doing well during or after an adverse event, or a […]
Learning through play occurs naturally through everyday experiences. Children learn by exploring, using their imagination and by making decisions often through trial and error. Play changes as children grow, and many different forms of play support children’s agency. Families can promote play by encouraging and participating in children’s play. Playing together is one of the […]
